Welcome to Mondo Electro, a journal of Internet life and remarkably interesting things. I plan to focus on the emerging world created by the Internet, where we are all uploading our brains into the ether for access anytime, anywhere, by anyone.

Ten years ago I connected the organization I work for to the Internet. In some ways that seems like yesterday, and in other ways it seems ages ago. At the time, I had to convince staff that the Internet was the best way to connect people with each other and with important information. Other organizations were using BBSs (Bulletin Board Systems for the youngins) to connect interest groups, but it seemed pretty limiting to me. Not that I had some great insight into the future of the ‘Metaverse’, but I figured that if our project got defunded, at least we could still justify the system for sending email. It also gave me the opportunity to start training people in the social service field about this new thing called the Internet (and the web, and search engines, and email, and other things that amazingly enough seemed new at the time).
